I'm trying to get a new system setup. I have hardware and software problems.
The big picture problem is that I can't seem to get X to startup. Attempts to run the xf86config program ends with the message:
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xinit/xserverrc: /usr/bin/X11/X No such file or directory.
I started with the woody distro. I built a new kernel 2.4.18 with the hopes that I might make some millage with a slightly more robust kernel. No such luck.

A few things leap out right away, but I have no Idea what's going on here. For instance, What the heck is the "Host biidge"?
