best linux motherboards,

I am, like alot of HIgh School grads, looking to build a brand spanking new Linux PC. I just got a couple of things I cannot figure out....one of which is which mobo should i purchase, i know of SuperMicro...but are there any other mobo manufacturers who have full, and proper, linux support...i would love an all-in-ones, but i can handle purchasing a couple of pci cards.. thanks in adv.

*EDIT: Before i forget, I would prefer AMD Mobo, rather than Intel, but either would do in the listings..

Basically you want to look at CHIP SETS, not specific brands. Most major chip sets are supported be default in the linux kernel. I would suggest looking into that. nForce2 and VIA kt600 (800?) are supported.. I have a Abit NF7-S and its the shiiiiiiznit. But thats just me. I also had a Gigabyte 7NNXP Pro 2, that was also nForce2. Again check to see what chip sets are being used, then cross reference them with linux support. Don't worry about "manufacturer" names until you deside on a chip set. There is also AMD chip sets, and SiS? And a few others.. All will have a few different things.. All will have different NIC controllers(Realtek perhaps), different Audio controllers (AC'97 perhaps). Check the forums for that chip set or board, and see if anyone has tested it with linux. But in my opinion, go with nForce2.
