BCM5702 ethernet doesn't work IRQ problem

Hello everyone,
I've been struggling with my ethernet card for 2 weeks now and I've finally figured out (after reading all kinds of how-tos) that the reason of my card not working is because it tries to use IRQ 10 while in windows it uses IRQ 20... (I have a double boot)

Here's what happened:
I've Installed RedHat8.0 few months ago - and was surprised to find out that my network card was detected and working without any effort...

Later on I found out that Masquerading was missing from the kernel so I decided to upgrade to 2.4.20 kernel from kernel.org in order to have masquerading enabled... After I recompiled, my original Broadcom Trigon driver stopped working so I researched a little bit and found out my native linux drivers for BCM5700 and downloaded them and included into my kernel...
Now my card is being recognized and loaded at IRQ10 instead of 20(windows)
Although at the boot time I get a message that eth0 has been loaded OK.
but still no internet connection after I log in.

Could you give me some insight on how to force the card to be recognized at IRQ20 instead of 10?

I Really appreciate your help.

Thanks very much.

David

P.S. I'will include a lil bit of hardware info if required:
P4 2.4 Ghz 512DDR Ram, ASUS P4PE motherboard with GIGABIT Lan BCM5702 onboard. I also have another ethernet card which is not even being recognized yet... but I think it's not the problem.

Hi..

1. First Please check the module is loaded card is properly detected or not.

lsmod
ifconfig -a

2. If it is detected check the LAN connectivity..

mii-tool

3. Check the IP and routing table and and try to ping other hosts.

Also check ur firewall settings.

mii-tool failed

Hello Siddiqu,

Thank you very much for your reply,
I've failed at mii-tool

It said: no autonegotiation, 10baseT-HD, link ok...

Although I did successfully
lsmod
and
ifconfig -a
got my ethernet displayed and all...

What do you think should I do to fix this "no autonegotiation" thing?

Thanks,

David

Hi..

Auto Negotiation depends is on the Switch or Hub. It is connecting at 10 Mbps Half duplex. Are u using Hub?.

If you use a Switch with Auto negotiation feature, the card will start negoatioating from the maximum speed.

Or u can set manually the speed using mii-tool also.

I'm not using a hub, I just have a linux box connected to a high speed (cable) internet through an ethernet cable.

So what might be the problem that I still don't have internet?
