Question Basic information needed! PLUGS & WIRES safe & clean- How to?

Does anybody have a good idea for a clean & safe electric installation for the plug & wires?

I was thinking of fixing about 20 plug with switches by my desk, (because I have so many things all separate, 2 PC's, 2 monitors...). But then I thought..hmmm... how come they don't sell any ready made??? Maybe because it's a not as good idea as that..??
Even in offices they have wires everywhere, why?
Maybe there are electricity standards that won't stand all that use of electricity.( here it's 220W/6A) Will I have to calculate the sum of used electricity? How do I know it's OK? ( learnt that at school but forgot) And if I do, what then?
Before I pulled all from one wall plug, then it started making weird noises, making sparkles as I plugged and unplugged..that I thought was no good. So I pulled a long one from the next room. Meanwhile I get a better installation I have to becareful with all theses wires lying around, careful not too trip over or unplug any...and I'm still pulling everthing from the same plug.

Maybe someone out there has a great idea to share...

Daisychaining power strips is a bad idea: the load on the root of the tree is liable to be excessive. No computer is worth burning down your house for: if you're in doubt contact a qualified electrician.

I only run one monitor, one box, one set of speakers. Wrong person to ask :-)
