Audigy 2 ZS advanced features supported under Linux?

I have a general question. Given that the emu10k1 drivers should support the SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS cards (I'm considering the Gamer version, a PCI card), how much of the advanced feature set is dependent on Windows binary programs? Is there any point upgrading from a SoundBlaster Live! to one of these cards for use under Linux?

TIA for any advice.

I have the SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS Gamers Edition. I bought it before I deleted Windows and installed SuSE.

It appears to be fully supported by alsa. I had to enable the digital output and balance the surround speakers.

Now, I don't remember if there is a slightly less expensive version of this card or not. After all, you don't really need the suite of Windows games if you are running Linux only.
