ATI's check.sh

Does anyone know how to alleviate this message?

You are either not running this script from the console
or simply do not have console ownership. Requirement failed.
Unable to determine XFree86 Version. Stopping now.

I get that when running ATI's check.sh file. I have looked up this problem on several websites; I can find quotes but never find the answer. ANyone?

Using Fedora Core5; (with all updates just installed)

forgive me, this will be short and sweet, just on my way into work.

press ctrl+alt+F1, that will switch you to a console. log in as root. then perform the command.

when you are done, log out, and press ctrl+alt+f7 to get back to X (its usually F7, but it could be any of the fkeys, each one is a different console).
