ATA Card causing incomplete load

I's running FC4 with the 2.6.14-1.1656_FC4 kernel. I'm on an AMD AthlonXP. I currently have Linux on a 30GB hard drive and it is running fine along with a CD-ROM and a DVD-ROM, using up 3 of the onboard IDE channels. I've recently added a Sil 0680 ATA controller and have two 160GB drives attached to it. When the controller card (and the drives) are connected the system enters a "Repair File System" mode requiring the root password or a reboot. Specifically the error shown is:
Checking filesystems
fsck.ext3: No such file or directory while trying to open /dev/hda1
The current Linux installation uses LVM.

Any help would be appreciated...my next course of action would be to re-install FC4 with the card in the system.
Thanks!

I found something else:

Addcording to a `dmesg | grep hd` command, my 30GB drive with the OS on it is being read as hde, with my two 160GB drives on the PCI controller registering as hda and hdc (each is the master on its own channel). is there a reason it's registering the PCI HDDs before the motherboard ones?
