Intel 945G chipset, Asus P5LD2-vm MB, EIDE HDD, IDE CD-ROM can't install Linux!

Hi,
I've got a problem, the thing is that my new MB has one IDE connector, so I've connected my hdd and cd-rw both to one wire. When I try to boot from linux cd I've got a strange message about cd-rom driver, setup asks me to give it on floppy disk, if I refuse, setup stopts.

So my first silly question is - how can it don't see cd-rom if it allready works from it?
and the second - What should I do to setup linux?

PS sorry for my English

Setup says - Cant find common cd-rom, so my be that happen because of 80 pin wire, but if I'll use 40 pin wire my hdd will work only on ata66!

And anothe thought, why XP has installed without any trable with this configuration.

There is a ITE8211F controller on a board alsou it looks like a some kind of IDE nest alsou. Mybe It's possible to use it for HDD with 80pin and standart IDE with 40pin wire for cd-rom?

Has anybody installed linux on boards with 945/55 chipset?
