alsa: probl. with modprobe on nForce2

Heya,
I am running 2.4.25 kernel with debian.
I have compiled alsa driver following instructions from alsa project site.
Everything seems to fine until the last command I have to issue:
see below what is going on (an few more details)
(i did not forgotten the ./snddevices script;
also amixex does not start sayng something similar : no device found)
#######modprobe############
eos:/usr/src# modprobe snd-intel8x0;modprobe snd-pcm-oss;modprobe
snd-mixer-oss;
modprobe snd-seq-oss
/lib/modules/2.4.25/kernel/sound/pci/snd-intel8x0.o: init_module: No such
device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including
inva
lid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
/lib/modules/2.4.25/kernel/sound/pci/snd-intel8x0.o: insmod
/lib/modules/2.4.25/
kernel/sound/pci/snd-intel8x0.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.25/kernel/sound/pci/snd-intel8x0.o: insmod snd-intel8x0
failed
