Hi I have a nforce2 mobo and I am using the inbuilt sound card

I tried the link you gave me

Quote:
Now that you know which device is the digital out you can start making your preferred apps use that device. Usually all ALSA apps use the hw:0,0 device as default so you need to change that. Read the man page and other documentation of the app to see how to change the device.
I have got xmms to output to the spdif using hw:0,2 but nothing else works

How to I get all sounds to use the spdif?

Thanks for any help

Karl
