I am a Newbie currently running (tinkering) Mandrake 9.1 on 3 networked machines. I will have the option to upgrade to ADSL in July and would like any reccomendations for an external ethernet router.
I have been looking at the "Draytek Vigor 2600" which retails at about £150 here in UK. Can anyone comment on this hardware or reccomend any alternatives.
Just as a quick reply I purchased a secondhand Alcatel Speedtouch Home and it works superbly, anything that will give you an ethernet connection at the back will be a great deal easier to set up as opposed to the USB types...
How easy are the above Modem/Router's to configure? I had a nightmare trying to get my "Winmodem" configured. in the end I gave up and went out and bought a external modem.
(It was expensive but saved many man hours)
Distribution: PCLinuxOS 0.93 and 0.92, Vector sometimes

The dabs one is very straightforward, and there is a good manual thrown in. Basically, most use the same method - open a web browser, type in a given IP address, it opens the configuration page (often an initial password is required - remember to change it ASAP). Piece of cake.
hehhe there's no problem... I tried 3 different ADSL Modem under linux, was all working fine. Ethernet Adsl modem are like external modem, they should always work... Usb modem aren't so good because most of time you'll not get the driver you need to make it works under Linux (most company don't care about people, so will not make Linux drivers). You better not try Usb modem, then
