Adding new disk to Compaq ML350 w/ RH8

All,

I have searched for similar issues, but nothing that seems to direct me somewhere productive. I have a Compaq Proliant ML350 G3 running Red Hat 8.0. If anyone is familiar with this box, it has it's own internal RAID (6 slots) - ours has three (3) 36 GB drives in a RAID 5 config. RedHat called this device "/dev/cciss/c0d0".

I wanted to add a new 73 GB disk and did so. I rebooted the machine and went into the HP Controller RAID configuration, where the drive was correctly recognized and I assigned it as a RAID 0 logical volume (this might be where I have erred). I exit the utility and boot into RedHat and using fdisk cannot locate this new device anywhere!

In the RAID utility before booting into RedHat, I noted that the SCSI ID is 3, but subsequent "fdisk -l /dev/c3d0" or "fdisk -l /dev/cciss/c0d3" are not fruitful. I can do an "fdisk -l /dev/cciss/c0d0" and I get the table for everything else.

Does anyone have any ideas? I am fresh out and HP/Compaq is my next hit, but I thought I would ask to see if anyone has had similar problems.

Thanks,
Discostu

Problemo solved

I figured this one out - I just did a loop on the /dev/cciss directory and ran the command "DEVS=`ls /dev/cciss`; for DEV in $DEVS; do fdisk -l $DEV; done` and the results posted the newly added device c0d1.
