20gb iPod Click on SuSE 9.1

Hail all, I really hope someone can help out on this one!!

I bought an iPod 20gb with Click wheel (Gen 4) and from reading seemed like it come with a HPFS+ partition but that windows would convert it to FAT using the iPod software, so I plugged it into a windows PC init it, it wanted to install new firmware so I said ok and it was all good, could read and put music on from windows.

I then put it into my SuSE laptop and got the normal output from dmesg about a new SCSI emulation for USB device and that it was on sda and had 2 partitions sda1 and sda2 but then it gave a Buffer I/O Error on device sda followed by another error of type end_request : I/O Error, dev sda, sector 0.

Fdisk cannot see any partitions and parted said Unrecognised Disk Label.

I am spewing how hard it seems to be to get this thing working!!! Damn Apple!!! Use BSD to base their own OS and then dont support all the Linux people who are the reason it still exists... meh, enough ranting, please someone help!!

Thanks for the links, by reading through I found out that SuSE 9.1 has EFI support built into it's kernel, this was causing the problems, by removing it and rebuilding the Kernel I am now up and running!
