2.6.9 kernel & ltmodem drivers

Hello
i compiled fine the ltmodem 8.31a7 drivers with my 2.4.26 kernel
but with the 2.6.9 i have this prob:

To avoid faulting Systems with an Enviromental setting: make -e
make
is the compiling command used with build_module.
To modify "make" invocation on your System, if desirable,
edit the build_module line below: MAKEE

Using KCFLAGS for gcc version 3.x
gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/lib/modules/2.6.9/build/include -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -fno-strict-aliasing -pipe -fno-strength-reduce -DMODULE -DLT_VERSION=8.31a7 -DLINUX -DNO_EEPROM -DLT_SERIAL_MODULE=lt_serial -I/lib/modules/2.6.9/build/include/asm/mach-default -DLTTTYNAME=\"LTM\" -mpreferred-stack-boundary=2 -fno-common -iwithprefix /lib/modules/2.6.9/build/include -march=pentium3 -DOMIT_EXPORTSYMTAB -DASMLINKAGE=asmlinkage -DKBUILD_BASENAME=ltmodem -DKBUILD_MODNAME=lt_modem -c -o ltmodem.a ltmodem.c
objcopy -W x_input --redefine-sym memset=ltmodem_memset ltmdmobj.o ./xxx.o
ld -r -defsym x_input_orig=x_input -o ./xxx1.o ./xxx.o
ld -r -d -o lt_modem.o ltmodem.a ./xxx1.o
rm -f ./xxx.o
rm -f ./xxx1.o
#ld -r -o lt_modem.o ltmodem.a ltmdmobj.o
Using KCFLAGS for gcc version 3.x
gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/lib/modules/2.6.9/build/include -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -fno-strict-aliasing -pipe -fno-strength-reduce -DMODULE -DLT_VERSION=8.31a7 -DLINUX -DNO_EEPROM -DLT_SERIAL_MODULE=lt_serial -I/lib/modules/2.6.9/build/include/asm/mach-default -DLTTTYNAME=\"LTM\" -mpreferred-stack-boundary=2 -fno-common -iwithprefix /lib/modules/2.6.9/build/include -march=pentium3 -DOMIT_EXPORTSYMTAB -DASMLINKAGE=asmlinkage -DKBUILD_BASENAME=serial-lt-2.6 -DKBUILD_MODNAME=lt_serial -c -o serial-lt-2.6.a serial-lt-2.6.c

Checking for driver products:

Compilation of lt_modem.ko failed,
Do assess whether your utilities are up to date as listed within 1ST-READ!

May i have to isntall other drivers? Are they support 2.6x kernels?
Thanks in advance

Wink

Hello!
I installed FC3 with kernel 2.6.9 on my acer laptop and had same problem with the ltmodem.

I successfully installed my softmodem by downloading the ltmodem-8.31a10.tar.gz source file archive from http://www.heby.de/ltmodem.
It is very simple to compile and it worked out at first try for me.
You have just to run some scripts:
./scanmodem #to check if modem is known
./build_module
./ltinst2
./autoload

Hope to be helpfull

Good luck!

I managed to dial with my modem and thank you for the link but the problem didn't solved.
As root:
i dial and when its ready to connect the dial dies and reconnect without any msg.
I use kppp. The debug script is:
ATZ
OK
ATM1L1
OK
ATD <PHONE NUMBER>
OK

... reconnects!

As user:
The modem dials and then no weird noises is hearing. You know this noises you hear when u getting connect.
After many seconds i take the message: NO CARRIER
I think i miss the configuration

I downloaded an ltmodem package for the 2.6 kernel series from http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/pack...dem/kernel-2.6. It works flawlessly!

Good luck!
