Well, by the looks of it, you installed wine under your normal user (i.e. not root) and you're trying to run wine under root. That's why it's telling you there is no wineserver in /root/. Just log into what ever user you installed wine under. Then change to your winblows partition

cd /mnt/nt <--- that's just mine... it's XP.

then just go to the directory where mspain is, I believe it's just in c:\windows, so cd there too.

cd /c/windows (could be incorrect, can't remember)

then just run mspaint with the mspaint executable.

wine mspaint.exe

That should do it for ya.

I had the same problem. To add a profile for wine in a root account, do the following:

Go to /home/[your username]/.wine/
Don't forget the period!
Press Ctrl-A to select all, and Ctrl-C to copy.
Now go to your root folder.
Create a new folder called .wine, with the period (and no comma).
Open it up and paste everyting previously copied into it.

Wine uses a hidden folder for each user that contains a profile of settings and misc things to allow wine to run properly. With the hiden folder now added to root, you should be able to use wine as the superuser.
