Windows based craft PC
I am investigating a project of a taking taking software from linux and running it on a windows platform
I have 2 options at present
1. take existing software which runs on linux and do a straight port to a PC running windows,I need to take into account that I need all the necessary tcp/ip packages on the windows environment whether I am working of a windows server or workstation
2.Put the software on a windows environment and use a middleware i.e a unix emulator and finally as a sub option of this procedure I could use a virtual machine such as VMware and run linux inside the virtual machine on a windows Operating system i.e have linux as the guest operating system
I would appreciate your opinions on this for example which mechanism you think is best and why??? which would be easier for the user, which would be more cost effective for the company supplying such a feature
