Windows 98 SE and installing...

Hi,
I am a gamer, and thus want to play games on my linux machine. Too bad Microsoft sucks and there are very few games supported by linux. Thus I am forced to run a Windows OS. I have a copy of WIndows 98SE lying around, but I am afraid to touch it. My friend currently tried installing 98 on his laptop, and it erased his entire hard drive (which already had a linux distro on it). If I do put Windows on my hard drive, how should I partition the section I want, and is it safe to dual boot Linux and 98SE. I dont know if you have all heard of h3knix, but that is what I am currently running. Help would be GREATLY appreciated, because I really want to get back into my games!

If you do not have some unallocated space you will need to resize an existing linux partition. You can use any linux tool (fdisk, cfdisk, parted) to create a FAT32 partition but 98 needs to be installed to a primary partition and then set the active partiton flag. Be sure to have some kind of linux boot disk because windows will overwrite the MBR. Reinstall the bootloader and add 98 to its configuration file and your finished.

No worries, I've installed 98 after linux lots of times without any problems.
