Why does Ubuntu dislike xscreensaver?

Every time Ubuntu updates itself (I've been doing Ubuntu updates since buying a computer with Ubuntu v. 8.04), it removes xscreensaver, compelling me to take a minute or two of my valuable time and three or four precious mouse clicks to go out and reinstall xscreensaver.

It hasn't ever touched or removed any other stuff I've configured up myself.

Why the vendetta against xscreensaver?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Thanks. You have answered my question and in what I consider some sort of record time.

Since I use Fluxbox as default, I quite happily use xscreensaver's power management. It's a shame Gnome screensaver is so lame, but it is.

I thought that technical discussions should be on the forum?
