well my os is openSUSE 12.3 on a hp notebook.I want to burn a iso to a dvd.I unintalled brasero and installed Xfburn.I have 5 dvds(4GB dvds) half of these dvds are 100 percent 4GB of free space. My question is what is wrong with this program or is it my cd drive. Also my problem is and i cant seem to figure out why is why when i replace dvd because Xfburn replies dvd is not blank Xfburn tells me dvd 2 is not blank and i know 100 percent for a fact it is blank. Is Xfburn not updating when i insert a blank dvd into the drive?I wish there is faster way to burn my iso.Is the problem my laptop?
brasero has been having problems of late , but might have been fixed
i would use K3b you can use it on Gnome3 , also it is the default if you are using KDE4
also are they
dvd-r
dvd+r
dvd +-r
or
dvd -rw
for burning a iso i would also use the SLOWEST record speed you can
x2 or x4
also HOW are you ejecting them ?
if you just press the button on the computer to open the drive
the program might not recognize a new dvd and think it is still the old one
use the gui tool to open the drive
there also should be a "open" option on the r-click menu if you click on the dvd name in the desktop "places"
I find myself in an awkward position as I am a fan of KDE, in general, and I have used K3B a long time. I recently had permissions problems apparently due to udisks, but searching for a solution did open my eyes to the issue of requiring root access to burn opticals. I started using Brasero, and in general I REALLY dislike Gnome, but it has worked perfectly for me. In fact, I am rather fond of being able to rt. clk an .iso file and "Open with..." Brasero and having it go to a simple, spare window exactly for image burning, no more, no less. It's rather nice.
