What happens to PVs / VGs / LVs if the device ID changes?

If a disk device ID changes after reboot from say /dev/sdb to /dev/sda, what happens to LVM if I used "pvcreate /dev/sdb" before the reboot on that device?

Thank you.

Nothing - the structures have all the info required to rebuild the LVM environment.

Can you please point to documentation that confirms this? I have read much but just cannot pin this down.
Thank you.

A bit more searching has found what I believe I am looking for.

https://access.redhat.com/documentat...on/lvm_filters

"At startup, the vgscan command is run to scan the block devices on the system looking for LVM labels, to determine which of them are physical volumes and to read the metadata and build up a list of volume groups. "

No need to answer.

Thank you.
