.... lets keep it as simple as possible

the search button on linuxquestions came up blanc
so here it goes...

i run slackware9.1/winXP

when trying to install the latest NVIDIAdrivers (MSI GForce4 ti4200 256mb)
i had to switch to CTRL+ALT+F2 (i think)
anyway, when i press CTRL+ALT+F2 or CTRL+ALT+F1
my monitor turns black, it goes to standbymode......
I can go back to CTRL+ALT+F7 tho

pretty weird if you ask me
I really have NO CLUE

Um, you probably don't even want to be in a gui like Xfree when installing those drivers anyways. Are you sure the monitor is in standby mode? does the light on the front power button turn orange?

Did you try just logging out to the console?

Sorry if I'm covering the obvious.
