I installed Gwenview and Kipi-plugins .. I can't seem to be able to view any RAW files thumbnails... any idea how I could do that ? I thought installing the Kipi will help that...
I also installed dcraw too ,,,
RAW image files are supported, but not for viewing.
The only way to view them I have found is to open them in GIMP, which uses a plugin to import and convert them to jpeg.

Gthumb can do it, but I think you must have ufraw installed.
Gthumb does not need to build catalogs first and create albums etc before you can view your pictures. Not 100% sure but I think XnView is such a program where you have to "add folders" and "add album" before you can see the files on disk, which is a nuisance IMHO.
If this is still not working you can always use geeqie. It is gtk, but very fast for viewing raw files and fairly lightweight. Other than this I believe dolphin will do it.
