Videosplitter/joiner

Anybody knows of simple little program that can split/join .avi's in linux? I'm sick of having to boot into windows everytime to get some videostuff done.

OF COURSE I am using mplayer - did you ever check with that divx5 deal? I didn't get it to work so far but didn't try real hard either.
