VBox + Jaunty XP = Freeze

It's been a while since I've used VirtualBox – Feisty Fawn – but I've had to use it lately to access some Windows stuff in XP.

I got it to work back then (eventually) but I'm having big problems in Jaunty and I'm wondering if it's a ubuntu thing or a general thing. I've thrashed around forums for three nights or so and I haven't found an answer so far.

The VB forums have things similar, but not exactly the same.

I'm using the PUEL version, because I'd like usb support. When I run VB the XP virtual machine runs ok but won't let me right-ctrl to get back to my Linux desktop. I can't do anything until I've close the virtual desktop.

When I install the guest additons it gets worse. The Linux mouse is frozen and the XP mouse disappears, so that I have to guess where it might be in the VM. XP works perfectly, so long as I've an idea where the invisible cursor might be.

Mouse-less capture or not, I'm stuck with a small window XP. Right CTRL will not make any difference. XP is working, however, albeit without a cursor.

I'm locked into a cursor-less XP session until I guess where the log out button might be. Only then can I close the VM and get back to Linux.

From my Feisty days I vaguely remember some sort of udev/fstab edit that make it all work. I can't find an exact answer to my problems in the VB forums so here goes...

Yes, I have aVBoxusers group, and I'm a member of it.

Thanks in advance

Try Compile your own Virtual Box from source. The problem of yours may be because of binary incompatibility.
