Using Linux computer *AS* a bluetooth keyboard

I have an unusual question here. I'm an experienced Linux user but I'm trying to figure out if a specific program exists. I have a Bluetooth-enabled phone but I hate having to write SMS messages with its built-in keyboard. The phone is very high-end (HTC TyTN II) so I'm betting that it supports Bluetooth keyboards. So what I'd like to be able to do is use my Linux computer *AS* a Bluetooth keyboard--i.e., use it as the slave side of a Bluetooth HID connection instead of the master side. Ideally there'd be some program that I run that pops up a little window that I just type into and that redirects the key presses to my phone.

Does anyone know if something like this exists?

(Note: I know that there are programs like Gnokii that can do this by interfacing to the phone's actual SMS sending function, but that doesn't work with my phone. I tried.)

Well the first thing you need to do is confirm that it supports this function, or else you are going to waste a lot of time and have a lot of trouble figuring out what is going wrong. The fact that it doesn't support SMS sending from a BT source is already a bad sign. Keep in mind that some carriers limit what functions the phone can use (in the US anyway), so even if the hardware is capable, your particular wireless carrier might have disabled some functions.

That said, I have no idea what software could do that, or if it even exists. I know you can put the BT interface into slave mode from Linux, and establish the serial connection, but then you still need to emulate the actual functionality of the KB.

If your phone supports it, pushing text files to it over OBEX and then opening them and sending it as a SMS would be much easier to implement (though admittedly, not as elegant).
