Using KDM through Exceed

I am very new to Linux and have a RedHat 9 system setup. I also have Exceed installed on a Windows XP computer. I am wondering if there was a way to get the KDM to work through Exceed (or any other X-Windows emulator) ?

I can connect through Exceed but it's command line only and when I try to run 'startx' I it tells me there is a server already active for display 0. I tried 'startx --:1' but it just starts another KDM session on the server and not in my Exceed session.

I have no idea what I am missing or where to turn next for help.

Thanks!!
