USB mouse with 2.6.0

I'm trying to get my usb mouse to work, but the best I've been able t o get so far is a pointer that moves around the screen eratically clicking buttons. I"m baffled as to why it's doing this. Ps/2 works fine. Here is my the input section of my xfree86 conf file:

Code:
Identifier	"Mouse1"
    Driver "mouse"
    Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
    Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
    Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
Thanks for any help.

try this

Option "device" "/dev/usbmouse"

also if you run the mouseconfig from your console it might show you an error to lead you to what is wrong. I had a similar problem with a usb mouse.

I actaully made the mistake of not having the correct driver installed. Stupid mistake, I should have checked earlier/ Thanks for the reply.
