upgrading with suse online update ?

does anyone know a way to UPGRADE your software (instead of patches and bugfixes) using suse online update. say for instance i wanted to upgrade kde 2.2 to kde 3.0 without downloading all the source packages or binaries.......

any comments would be appreciated

It is not possible to upgrade packages using YOU. It works only for minor updates or paches of the already installed packages.

I suggest you to install apt for SuSE. Run this as root:

apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
apt-get dist-upgrade

I just found this post via a related post. What is this apt software? Where can I download it? I have searched on suse, sourceforge and google.

Does it mean I will be able to upgrade to 8.1 or 8.2 without getting all the disks?
