Tutorial Recommedation Please

I've been dual booting with Windows 2000 and Debian for a while, over the weekend Windows decided to blue screen everytime I tried to load it up. After wasting some time trying to get the thing to start up I decided to make the move to Linux full time. I've been planning to do it for a while and this pushed me over the edge!

The one thing I would like to be able to do which I cant do at the moment is compile my own kernel. I havent got a problem finding a tutorial, Im able to find loads on the web and in various forums, the problem is knowing which is a good in depth one to use. Could someone please recommend a good website or forum post.
Thanks

Experience and knowing your hardware is the key. I think it took me about 8 tries to get a working kernel my first time.

I usually go to the LDP first. Have you checked the kernel HOWTOs?

I think Dr Ozz on this site just written a guide (cant remember which section its in) - if there are any problems he's certainly someone to talk to.
