Trouble downloading large files

I have ext3 formatted partitions on my linux box, and I have files on these partitions that are well above 2 GB that work perfectly fine, so this is not a file size limit issue due to ext3 (at least I hope not). The real problem is that when I try to download files larger than 2 GB in size, the download manager only downloads 2 GB worth of the file before quiting. I have tried the firefox download manager, d4x, and aget. They all react the same way. Is there a way to set these dlms to handle files larger than 2 GB? I find this 2 GB limit to be antiquated and annoying. Please help.

I had that very same idea shortly after atarting this thread. Bittorrent seems to be working just fine. If any other file size related download SNAFUs occur with Bittorrent, I will post them here. Thank you for the suggestion.
