lol i did do reasearch, i just dont see the point of a program to veiw text when other programs can do it just as fine, presonaly i much rather like to read the online docs, much funner

Be happy you even have the man pages though, there might be the day X stopped working along with internet....

That's why good admins know vi as well, there might be that one day its your only text editor available and your screwed if you don't know anything about it..

And I don't get "i don't get the point of a program to view text when other programs can do it just as fine"..... Well, those other programs are doing it as well, or are they reading the text out loud for you?

Do you really mean to say you don't like the CLI? And you only like working in X? You know most webservers and well, server for the most part don't even use X, I'd hate for you to explain to your boss when you get that admin position why you need X installed so you can perform your job, when all its going to do is waste unecessary resources and such. I suppose that's why they make CLI programs to read text and such, to make others jobs who deal with it everyday much easier.
