Text in VT

When my computer has been running for a while the computer starts dumping /var/log/messages or /var/log/syslog to my virtual terminals. If I press <CTRL><ALT><Fn> the screen fills with lot of text and it gets really hard to run commands outside X. Thankfully the terminal emulators within X isn't affected. Do anyone have any idea about how ti fix this?

You're right. Can I turn the output off?

terminal messages

Hello Per

Thats a good question.

I have IPTABLES running on a 486 firewall/NAT/router which protects my home network. It runs headless, and I have not had
to deal with this problem. I know that by sending dropped packet info to a file in /var/log these things occur. Although I rarely
look at the logs, I want them so that if tripwire or rkhunter detect something, I can have more info.

Lets hope someone who knows the fix will show up.
