I tried the .deb at Ted but it has an unsatisfied dependency libtiff4, which is depreciated:
Quote:
Package libtiff4-dev is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
However the following packages replace it:
libtiff5-dev:i386 libtiff5-dev
I installed libtiff5-dev, but that didn't work. Here is a person who solved a different problem by
Quote:
I just changed the names of packages in requirements.apt from libtiff4-dev to libtiff5-dev
but I don't know how to do that. I thought about trying the repos for Devaun, but I run Mint 18.1, and that couldn't be a good idea.
Any advice? I used Ted years ago, and remember liking it, and AbiWord and LibreOffice are just too much for simple rtf.
Thanks! However, now I need libjpeg62-turbo >=1.3.1 My Mint repos have libjpeg-turbo8, and libjpeg62. Turbo8 was installed, but not libjpeg62, so I installed it, and get the same error. Probably some naming conventions? I know nothing about libs.
So I installed a .deb of it for my architecture from Debian, and it works!

You're the man!

OK.
Devuan_Jessie_1.0.0_amd64 :
Get 'ted_2.23-1debian8_amd64.deb' https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7S...ew?usp=sharing
cd Downloads/
# gdebi ted_2.23-1debian8_amd64.deb
Easy, and fast, as all dependencies already are installed with the OS install.

I do not use much debs, especially from ubuntu, which is risky.
I have managed to compile ted from source. I have to find 1-2 libraries, but it went very well.
