Question Stupide Question about Date Format

I will use the date shell on Linux, and I just see that the format will pass from 9 digits to 10 digits the 8 or 9th September 201.
The 'date %s ' is on 9 digits since 1973.
Do you think that it may have some consequences on some programs ?
