Question Squid Problem !!!!!


I have a Squid proxy in my network, and the other day it just went dead on me. The error message it gives when i do a status check /etc/rc.d/init.d/squid status is "

squid dead but subsys locked
squid: ERROR: No running copy


What causes this and how do I get my Squid running again ????

Would appreciate ALL help !

The problem occurs when the cache fills up. I would download webmin install that and then configure squid. (www.webmin.com). Change the default cache location to the usr partition. Or whatever you largest partion is. After you change the cache location go into webmin under squid icon and clear and rebuild cache. Once you resolve your cache issue that will stop happening. Let me know if you have any issues. I know my instructions were not very clear

To get it running temperarly just clear and rebuild the cache in webmin. Then go to a shell and type "service squid restart"

Hi there . I have rebuiild the Cache But My problem persists .I get the Following errors

command : /etc/init.d/squid status
Output : Squid running ( 123, Blah blah )
squid : Error No running Copy

command: /etc/init.d/squid stop
Output : Stopping Squid ......... [FAILED]

command: squid -k reconfigure
Output : squid : ERROR: no running copy
Can Someone Please Help me .I am right Now running a compiled from source Squid running from a Differrent Directory.
I am running Squid on RH 7.3 with all 3 Directories running On a differrent disk with reiser fs partitions

i have the same problem but in suse 9.1 pro.
and the log files gives me nothing
