Sound is too quite

People say that the sound under Linux with SBLIVE cards is great, better than that of windows XP/2k. I notice it the other way. My sound under linux is very quite, almost sounds muffled, and somehow, I don't think that that is right.

Anybody have any suggestions to why this might be happening?

Later,
Oz
