Slow Internet Connection

Hey guys currently we have a UBUNTU Desktop acting as our gateway. It is configured with our DSL a squid and firestarter(used to share our internet connection to our LAN), is there a way to check if our UBUNTU is causing the slow connection or a part of UBUNTU is causing the slow connection.

Sure there is. Just connect one of the networked machines straight into the modem. How's the speed then?

yeah i already did that and the speed is great so i think now the problem lies on the server.
