Similar protocols?

Hi,
can anyone tell any other protocols similar to NDMP in the backup and restore domain?

I don't think so.

NDMP is an open standard, although I'm not aware of any open source backup software that supports it as yet.

I'm also not aware of anyone who has tried to scratch up an alternative. You would have to have the NAS and tape vendors implement your alternative in order for it to go anywhere. Since it is an interoperability issue, it would be an uphill battle.
