I would use ftp, but I am not exactly sure how to setup the FTP server. Any suggestions on that?
And Windows starts booting, it is at the boot screen (right befoe the welcome screen) when it just restarts. I want to get all of my data off to format the dive and begin anew with all the OSes and stuff.
DavidPhillips - I'm not sure I follow. And wouldn't that require a restart? I can't do anything that requires a restart, as I use Knoppix without a harddrive partition to store data in - thus everything is in RAM which disappears when the computer is restarted obviously.
no nothing requires a restart except changing the kernel,
After setting up the fstab file and groups just mount the partition
mount /mnt/xp
ftp is fairly easy to setup, you just need to follow an ftp howto and if you have a question on it don't hesitate to ask.
As far as the work needed to get this working I would vote ftp is easier than samba to setup. However if you are planning to continue sharing files to a windows machine using MS networking you need samba anyway.

Well, right now I am just looking for a quick way to move everything off the harddrive so I can format it. Well, I guess I can't even format it an re-install Windows XP without the disk though anyways...
you can mount the partition and copy the files to the linux drive if you have the space. Or make a tar.gz file. I think you are going to have problems with file permissions unless you use dd or something like it to do the copy.

There should be some kind of filesystem in ram, which means you should still be able to edit the config files, however you still have nowhere to move the files to.
if you use your windows machine to share a drive then you can mount it using smbfs and copy the files over there from linux.
