Setting up video in text mode to 50 lines

My distribution is Conectiva Linux 8 and I'd like to know how to adjust the console to 50 lines instead of 25.

If you are using lilo then you can set the following line:

vga=extended

You might want to read the following man page:
man 5 lilo
