I have set up SuSE linux on a PC.
I have a serial port that I would like to run a very simple console on (be able to send out text and receive text).

Does anyone know how to do this?

TIA.

I ran across this the other day while searching for some other serial port stuff. I haven't tried it. But it looked interesting. Maybe it will help you. I may try it myself when/if I get caught up on my many projects.

thanks for the link... i have not been able to successfully install seriallinux.

i did just find a program called "kermit" that was easy to install with an RPM

http://www.columbia.edu/kermit/ckermit2.html

the tricky part was the permisssions on the device files and the lock files for the device. (it was really painless to get working)
