Running X app on Windows with xming without XWindow GUI on Linux

I want to run a X application on a linux from remote Windows7 with xming. I can use putty with x-tunnel enabled provided the linux is in runlevel 5. However, I don't want to have the XWindow GUI show on the linux machine. I remember that many years ago, it is enough to do so with a linux which installed libX and running xfs. How can I do same on a CentOS6 and Redhat EL6?

X windows is a client server (in reverse terms) situation. It isn't a remote desktop. If you send a program such as xclock to this remote, it is supposed to only display on the remote. The remote has to have server running. (remember reverse terms)

Some examples maybe.

Mobaxterm is also useful.
