root user unable to copy file


i am unable to copy movie files from CD. getting error I/O error, while using same system and same CD movie disk from windows without any error, i am copying files as a root user. while permission of file as below

-r-x-r-x-r-x ............................ avseq02.dat


i changed several video disk but getting same error.

uing Fedora core 4.


root]# cp /media/cdrecorder/mpegav/avseq02 /video

5GB of free disk space on / and unable to copy even 20MB file. strange error.

Well, if the file is called avseq02.dat perhaps you should try:

root]# cp /media/cdrecorder/mpegav/avseq02.dat /video

and give us the error messages (if any)

I/O error usually means the data is corrupted on the source or the media is defective on the destination.
Are system messages reporting an error (dmesg) ?

sorry i worte filename avesq02.dat, and if filname mistake then i should get "file not found" error. this error is about I/0 you should also try this, because i copied this file from windows using same system, and i replaced several video disks, but getting same error in linux , while can copy it from windows
