RH9 + TX2000 + 2.6 = Problems

Don't know where exactly to put this so here goes.

Ok I've searched and searched and searched and can't find anything that has helped. Compiled a 2.6 kernel and such and edited LILO and tried to boot with it. Didn't work. Did some more stuff and finally added some append info I found from murty's ataraid site. DIdn't do anything! I am at a lose here!

Problem:
Can't mount root fs, suggests passing a correct root= parameter. Says device can't be found.

System:
Asus A7N8X Deluxe
AMD Athlon XP 2200+
512MB Corsair XMS PC3200 TWINX (133 @ 2-2-2-4)
2x Maxtor 160GB 7200RPM 8MB cache UATA133 (RAID0 on PCI Promise FastTrak TX2000)
Pioneer 16X Slot-Load DVD-ROM
LiteOn 52/24/52 CD-RW
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro 128MB RAM
Onboard nForce Sound
Onboard 3COM 10/100 NIC

Drivers Used:
Promise ft.o SCSI emulation for TX2000

LILO.conf:
boot="/dev/sda"
lba32
prompt
timeout="50"
message=/boot/message
vga=normal

image="/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.20-8"
label="Linux"
root="/dev/sda8"
read-only
initrd="/boot/initrd-2.4.20-8.img"

other=/dev/sda1
label="WinXP"

image="/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.0-test1"
label="New-Linux"
read-only
root="/dev/ataraid/d0p8"
append="ide2=0xa000,0xa402,11 ide3=0xa800,0xac02,11 hdb=ide-scsi"
initrd="/boot/initrd-2.6.0-test1.img"

I can post my .config if necessary or certain parts of it.

Are you running ext3 file system? You have to include support for your root file system in the kernel, you can't compile it as a module. This should solve your issue.

tx2000 raid

Have you had success since you posted? I'm working with that card right now and have been thinking about uses 2.6. I've been grabbing the drivers off of promise's site so far for 2.4
