I got it worked out, it was a pretty simple problem although I never realised what it was.
I installed and let it pick the usual stuff for graphics and monitor all by it's self, I didn't let it test the setting!!!! Testing the setting locks it up. Also set it to boot to run level 3.
Grub wouldn't work at all.
I used Lilo and at least it started to boot, but hung at loading APM deamon. So after tinkering for a while I changed the Bios to no legacy USB support for keyboards and such and also unplugged my ethernet cable.
It now booted fine. I had the drivers for the chipset on CD. I loaded them in, shut down, plugged my ethernet back in and kudzu found the onboard ethernet and let me configure it.
I installed the nvidia kernel, and glx drivers, used mcedit to edit the XF86Config-4 file, rebooted and saw the NVIDIA logo, logged in and all is running great!!
Glad I found this thread as it gave me the motivation to keep plugging away at it.
I would also like to say if anyone is looking for a cheap all in one board $59 that shocked me with it's outstanding performance then try the ASUS A7N -VM.
I have never been a great fan of integrated hardware, but always a fan of ASUS, so I figured if they made it it couldn't be too terrible, well I was wrong, it is outstanding, this thing absolutely rocks. I have never seen an integrated board perform like this.
Well I'm a happy camper!!!!
