Resource sharing b/w two OS, Single Machine

Hi,

i want to know, is it possible to share resource in Linux between two OS on a single machine.
this can be achieved through installing VM Ware, but lets take an example, supose there is 2GB RAM, through VM ware i can distribute memory between 2 OS. but can i make whole 2GB availabe to both the OS at same time, in case one OS goes down the whole 2GB would be availabe to other LIVE OS..??

That would be the default behavior if you set up both images with RAM >= 2GB.

When you set up the system images, tell it to use 2GB of RAM for each image. Then each virtual machine will be able to get at all the RAM it needs.
