Resizing a root reiserfs partition

I have a reiserfs partition that is the root of a slackware 8.1 system. Now, its a server and I have no monitor or keyboard hooked up to it, i just SSH to it. I'm wondering what my options are on how to grow it. It is currently about 1gb and there is 2gb unused after that I want it to have. I am unable to get parted to work, even after I install reiserfsprogs, it says "No Implementation: Support for opening reiserfs file systems is not implemented yet." I cant use resize_reiserfs becuase it needs the partition to be unmounted.

Help!?

Could I throw in Knoppix and try parted from there? Does Knoppix load SSH by default?
