There are many ways to connect linux and windows computers.

rdesktop is used to connect to windows terminal servers and remote administration on XP Pro. W2K and XP home do not have this capability so you will need to use vnc instead.

Connecting from windows to linux non GUI you can use ssh. There is x over ssh, Cygwin/X in addition to vnc for GUIs.

dude, you need to install vnc on windows if you want to use vnc to connect from linux OR otherwise enable rdp and use rdesktop.
that is what michaelk meant.

you need to do something like this.
Quote:
rdesktop 192.168.1.1
type that in your linux terminal

you cannot use vnc for connection if you are using rdp.
I guess you havent understood the difference between rdp and vnc. I just did a search and got this, ie if you want to understand the diff.
