Reinstall Perl

Hi all,

I admit that I'm the biggest moron in this world. I accidentally remove the entire perl folder. Now, even with the installer I downloaded, I couldn't get perl installed back. Anything that has to do with CPAN or perl, will give me "can't locate XXXX.pm in @INC"

Can someone be kind enough to help me? I'm using linux.

Thanks a million!

Ok, I'm not too familiar with RedHat. Which RedHat, btw?

Can you reinstall perl with yum/up2date? Or download the (correct) RPMs and reinstall with rpm?

Welcome to LQ.

Suggest : Download the package 'perl-5.8.x...el...rpm'
or get it from your install DVD.

Then : # rpm -e --nodeps perl
And : # rpm -Uvh <perl-package.rpm>

Next, you can make a list with other perl tools
installed : rpm -qa | grep perl .
Rpm knows from the install data base, that they
are installed, so you may have to do # 'rpm -e'
with all, before installing them again.

But it all depends on a working 'rpm' command.
Please verify, other methods can be used, if
nothing works on the OS.
( The perl-5.8... package can be converted to a
'tar.gz' package and extracted into your system
from a live cd Linux.)
