Unhappy Red Hat 9 on Athlon XP

I have an Athlon 2000+ XP machine on an ASUS A7N-266VM board with nVIDIA 220D chipset. The detailed specs are:

Processor: Athlon 2000+ XP

Motherboard : A7N-266VM Chipset: nVIDIA 220D

RAM: 256 DDR

Hard Disk #1: 80 GB Baracuda partitioned as:
C:\ Win 98 (fat 32) 4.0 GB Primary
Linux Swap 1.0 GB Primary
Linux native (ext 3) 7.5 GB Primary
E:\ Win XP (fat 32) 6.0 GB Logical
F:\ Dump (fat 32) 57.5 GB Logical

Hard Disk #2: 20 GB Seagate partitioned as:
D:\ DISK2 (fat 32) 20 GB Primary

I have tried installing RHL 9.0 on my system and was able to do so after repeated attempts. However whenever I try to boot into linux I get stuck at
' Finding Module Dependencies'
and all computer activity stops. I have tried the minimal installation (474 MB) but the problem persistes with that too.

Kindly advise.

Did you do a checksum on your install disks to see if they are corrupt? The hardware that you have shouldn't cause any problems that I know of.

I am running RH 9 on almost the exact same machine, except with different brand hard drives. I agree, check the disks..
